九份, Taiwan
by Kelvin Seet on Aug.04, 2009, under Panoramas
With this panorama photo, I shall begin a new way of bringing you sights from around the world, to share with you what I have seen through my photography when I travel.
Here is a panoramic view from a very beautiful old town in Taiwan, where lots of traditional Taiwanese goodies are sold to entice your taste buds! This place is called “Jiu Fen” or 9 Portions where, historically, it was home to gold miners. If you ever make a trip to Taiwan, be sure to drop by this place as it is quite simple to get there!
Thanks for viewing!

Journalistic Shots at Cape Town, South Africa
by Kelvin Seet on Jan.14, 2009, under Journalistic, Travels
I went sightseeing with a bunch of really cheerful and funny people! They really had a lot of fun visiting all the various scenic places in Cape Town and I had even more fun taking photos of them!
I must say that most of my shots that will be shown here are taken to the best of my capabilities with a journalistic approach. As it was a bright sunny day in Cape Town that day, most of my “models” were wearing sunglasses so I couldn’t really capture the sparkle in their eyes!
I won’t want them to be squinting too! It was really very glaring most of the time! I even got sunburnt!
As I didn’t carry my external flash with me and had not expected to go on the sightseeing trip, I didn’t charge my batteries and hence could not use my internal flash as I had to conserve power. Otherwise I believe that a lot of the issues that I have faced, like shadows and uneven exposures would had been resolved. But no matter what, everyone had fun taking the photos!
Here are the selected portrait photos from my shoot! Do hope that you’ll like them!

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
by Kelvin Seet on Nov.16, 2008, under Travels
Like a classically beautiful pointer that directs your vision to the heavens, the Eiffel Tower of Paris is the one of the most distinctive and perhaps the only landmark in this magnificent world of ours that signifies and symbolises the magical word, Romance…
I took a walk from the hotel to this statuesque location this afternoon. Although the weather was not very favourable for photography, as it was overcast and grey, I decided that black and white photos should do fine. So off I went on a 2km walk, taking photographs along the way. When I reached my destination, I was not surprised to see the great mix of nationalities and people, from all over the world, taking their share of photos of the historical structure.
It was my first serious attempt at street photography and though the weather sort of dampened my enthusiasm, I didn’t want to give up just because of it. Though it was not easy, I managed to pull together some shots that I hope you’ll like. There are some shots that I left in their original colours as I felt that they were more representative of what I visualised. As for my landscape and architectural photos, I was trying to break out of the mould of what others will usually shoot, so do leave me your comments as I will be very keen to know if I have succeeded!
If you have not seen this place yet, if you ever have the chance, I wish that you will do so with your loved ones. As seeing it with your very eyes for the first time, gives you the feeling of nostalgia, where your mind will drift back to the very moment that you gave your loved one that magical first kiss…
J’espère que vous apprécierez les photos!
