Acropolis, Athens, Greece

by Kelvin Seet on Nov.06, 2008, under Travels

It took a while to get to the top of the Acropolis as we had to climb a gradual but pleasant slope to get there. Along the way, there were many other ancient structures to appreciate so it was quite a nice climb!

When we go to the top, the view was fantastic and I could feel and imagine how an ancient greek would had walked the stones, met up with important people and most of all, feel safe from invaders. Although the main structure, the Parthenon, had been recladded and rejuvenated time and again, its immense glory still makes its presence felt.

Here’s my set of reasonably acceptable photos for your viewing!

Pasalimani, Piraeus, Greece

by Kelvin Seet on Nov.06, 2008, under Travels

This pretty little harbour of yachts and fishing boats reminds me of Fremantle Harbour in Perth. Its nice, but does not have the white sandy beaches. Its a little more like Clarke Quay in Singapore with all its eateries and restaurants by the walkway.

A nice little place to see if you can spare the time! I reached the place quite late as my party of 3 got stuck in an unusual traffic jam along the way as a car was parked just at the corner of a junction where our bus had to turn. A whole line of traffic had to wait and horn furiously while the sheepish driver came back about 45 minutes later to drive away.

That’s Europe for you!

Temple of Olympian Zeus, Athens, Greece

by Kelvin Seet on Nov.06, 2008, under Travels

Looking at the remnants of this grand temple made me feel very small indeed. The last few standing columns of a huge temple were the only remaining pieces of valuable history. The place now feels more like a very peaceful park though.

Here are a few selected photos from my collection.
