Piazza del Duomo, Milan, Italy

by Kelvin Seet on Mar.18, 2009, under Travels

This was actually my second visit to this place, the first during my honeymoon when I did not really have the luxury of time to shoot the place as I was on a package tour, so this time I made sure I did! :)

Piazza Del Duomo is the most popular Square in Milan where the Duomo di Milano stands proudly and strikingly. When you first set eyes on this gothic cathedral, the stark contrast of its spiked facade against the classical structures (housing a shopping paradise nearby) creates a sense of childlike wonder in one’s spirit. The white marble structure is an astoundingly beautiful cathedral that you must really see with your own eyes to appreciate! I dare say that this is one of the most unique cathedrals you can ever see in Europe. There is a lot of history behind this square and the Milan Cathedral but I’m sure that you can find all the information you’ll need from Wikipedia, as with all the other destinations that I have written and photographed about. :)

During this photography trip, I was with 3 of my friends and we took a lot of photos of the church and its surroundings while there was still daylight. However, during sunset, we realised that the setting was much more atmospheric for better photos and shot even more! Hence, you’ll find that most of the photos published here would be shot during that time. I strongly encourage anyone who will be visiting the place, to be there during sunset as the lighting is simply wonderful for photography!

Here they are! Do leave me your comments! I do miss them! :P

Abbey of St Gall, St Gallen, Switzerland

by Kelvin Seet on Nov.24, 2008, under Travels

It was during our honeymoon that we went to this UNESCO World Heritage Site. On arrival at St Gallen, it looked like any other town in Switzerland. But once we found the Abbey of St Gall, we immediately loved the place!

It was so beautiful and picturesque. The clear deep blue sky gave such a stunning contrast to the luscious green grass and antique stone buildings. We wandered around, went into the world famous library where hundreds of years old books still laid in their original shelves (but unfortunately, photography was not allowed), and accidentally found the cathedral where both of us were astounded by its majesty!

Here are some of the photos that were taken.
