Golden Temple, Amritsar, India
by Kelvin Seet on Nov.06, 2008, under Travels
The Holy Temple for Hindus, covered with gold leaves and with a dome of pure gold, is an amazing sight to behold the moment one sets his or her eyes on it.
Getting there was a challenge as traffic in Amritsar was haphazard. Oxen, motorcycles, horse carriages, pedestrians, cars, bicycles and so on travel on the same roads in all directions. Lanes are narrow and packed with activity. However, this is a place that one should not miss.
But I do suggest that you get there in the evening as the ground will be too hot to walk on during the day (if you are there in summer!). Why?
Because you go barefooted!

Wagha Border, Amritsar, India
by Kelvin Seet on Nov.06, 2008, under Travels
A selection of photos taken from my visit to the border between Pakistan and India. It is here that the two countries perform their flag lowering ceremony and have a ceremonial friendly handshake.
Amidst cheers of “Hindustan” and “Pakistan”, hundreds of locals and a handful of tourists throng this place every evening. It is a very colourful and boisterous event and if you happen to be in either Lahore or Amritsar, you must not give it a miss!
