Peachfaced Lovebird – A Portrait Of A Visitor

I was just relaxing at home yesterday afternoon when I heard loud chirping emanating from somewhere. I was wondering, was it a mynah, mata puteh or something that intruded into my home, looking for food? Being curious that the chirping didn’t stop, I went to take a look. Guess what I found?

It was a superbly coloured and fluffy bird! And it was tame! I went near it and it didn’t fly away. So I tried to feed it water but it didn’t want to drink. So I went to grab my camera to take some photos of it (if I didn’t do so, it would be such a waste!) It flew away after I got too close with my lens. It could had stayed longer if I didn’t go too near. Oh well!

Here’s a photo of the beautiful, friendly and pretty bird! I kind of miss it already. Haha :).

Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau, Germany

I travelled to Munich recently and decided to visit this world renowned castle that was located about 2 hours southwest of the city. Although the weather wasn’t really as warm as expected, since it was already March and spring was supposed to have started, it was still a very good and memorable day trip!

The castle is currently under some restoration and renovation works but luckily I was there before April commenced, as the scaffolding would had come up and be very obvious. This fairytale castle came into view the moment I arrived at the town on a bus ride from Fussen. What a sight! King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the 19th century had some good classy taste! But what a pity that he didn’t get to complete the castle in its entirety. It is an uncompleted project but what stands at present is astoundingly beautiful by itself.

I’m sure many of you know that this castle was the inspiration for Disneyland’s castle and seeing the real thing is so much better, especially the interior which was flushed with interesting paintings, art and unique creations. If you ever make a trip there, do spend some time enjoying the scenery too, as my photo below shows!

Since it was cold, my panoramic photo of the castle shows a wintry scene. Perhaps someday I will go back there in autumn for a more colourful and less gloomy scenery to add to my collection of worldwide panoramas!

Thanks for visiting!

Lightning – Power Of Nature

I’ve always been fascinated with this wondrous phenomena and I never fail to stop and admire lightning and thunderstorms when they occur. They somehow bring out the childlike sense of wonder in me and it builds up a sense of anticipation between strikes as to what is going to happen next and where it will hit!

Hence, when I spotted a whole range of dark clouds looming in the distance at an area I happened to be in, I immediately stood by with my camera, awaiting the precious moment that I’ve always hoped for: a shot of a lightning strike!

I waited and waited as there were no strikes to be seen but I did not lose hope. The rain in the distance created silky threads of grey to create the perfect background if a strike does occur. My patience paid off as the one and only series of strikes came after about 20 minutes of pure observation time! I then shot away and managed to obtain this image! I do hope that this is the first of many lightning photographs that I will capture!

Enjoy the photograph of the power of nature!
